Slaughter Ranch Tour
Ambos Tours of ArizonaAmbos Tours takes groups on an Arizona history tour of Texas John Slaughter’s San Bernardino Ranch. located east of the border town of Douglas, Arizona.
John Slaughter served in the Confederate Army and came to Cochise County, Arizona after the Civil War, where he became the county sheriff.
He was probably the most historic and memorable of Cochise County’s sheriffs. Not fond of Judges or trials, he seemed to clean out the county of its “bad guys.”
His San Bernardino Ranch has been kept very much as it was when he and his family lived there in the late 1800s.
We are privileged to have the ranch historian join us for this tour. In addition to the day tour of the ranch, the historian does a presentation at the Little Gallery at the Americana Hotel prior to our tour departure, to give us an advance history lesson before we head out to the ranch the next day.
This is definitely a great way to learn first-hand about the history of Arizona and the people who helped to shape it.
We hope you can join us for this interesting and informative trip. The tour includes transportation, a picnic lunch, entry fee, historian and a great time!!
We depart from the Americana Hotel at 7:30 a.m. and return that afternoon at about 5:00 p.m.
